01. Meet Rafaela

Rafi, wearing a red cardigan, sitting at the 'Princess Diana Fountain' at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India.

Hi, I'm Rafaela! My favourite things to do are make art, eat delicious food, drink excellent wine and hang out with dogs.

I pursued a theatre degree at the University of King’s College/Dalhousie University and after completing my BA, I had one goal: to further my training in New York City.

I was accepted to train with the Atlantic Theater Company in their rigorous Professional Conservatory. On weekends, I took a Master-Level Scene Study class with award-winning Actor/Writer/Director, Austin Pendleton at HB Studio.

Since returning to Toronto, I've worked steadily in theatre, film, television and commercials. I am the Founder and Artistic Director of Martha Rose Productions

“Rafaela Lewis as Jo is hilariously bro-ish, her mannerisms boyish and her delivery wry. Lewis is adept at playing her lines two ways at once, adding a lot of casual irony to lines that the character means sincerely in order to highlight their absurdity. As the lead she’s eminently likeable and consistently funny, transitioning believably between younger Jo, all boundless enthusiasm and willful obliviousness, and the older Jo, who is a little older, a little wiser, but thankfully never too much.”

“Rafaela Lewis’s Jo is suitably narcissistic, articulate yet hilariously unaware of her actions’ effects.”
